We are trying to figure out this switch from me being a stay at home mom to a working mom.  This switch has:

  • Left a laundry disaster: dirty laundry heaping from our hamper, clean laundry overtaking our cozy couch, and empty dresser drawers.  This leaves P constantly asking "where are my socks" and R can never find any of his 12 pairs of basketball shorts - the only thing he will currently wear.
  • It has caused me to miss dinner with my family the last 3 nights.  But I am learning to be super organized so that I can get their dinner cooked before I leave at noon for work.
  • My bathrooms are a disaster - specifically related to a certain 3 year old little boy who has bad aim - you get the picture.  Morning sickness and dirty bathrooms really don't go well together either.
  • My bedroom has a half unpacked box of maternity clothes strewn all over the floor, in my frantic attempt to find something, anything that will fit.  I am in that awkward in between phase where maternity clothes are way to big but my pre-pregnancy clothes look hookerish (yes a word, Urban Dictionary says so), leaving skirts the only fitting option, however I can't wear skirts to work...so hmph.  I guess I need to shop.
But my orientation at work is almost complete.  There is promise that I will have a regular schedule by the end of this month, which would be fabulous for child care issues once P starts teaching this fall term.  So the dirty apartment I can manage for now, soon we will get the swing of this transition.  Soon K won't be so clingy, he will understand that when I leave I will return, and that I won't always be gone.  And really what matters is that my boys have fun with their daddy while I am at work.  Who needs a clean house anyway : ).

and with that, little K - woke up at 4:45am with teething pain - just fell asleep in my lap.  So I am going to see about getting some sleep too!
