Just the two of us

P and I celebrated our 5th anniversary on August 20th.  This weekend we were able to have a night away just the two of us, compliments of my mom and sisters.  The last time we spent a vacation just P and I was on our honeymoon, so this was a real treat.

Being in this city brought back so many wonderful memories...the city where we had our first apartment together, ran our first marathon together, started our college careers, met many wonderful people, spent lots of time on the Max, held late night sprint races at Lincoln High (I always won), went for countless hikes at Council Crest, enjoyed running around waterfront...and this weekend we had a taste of this lovely city, just the two of us, and it was perfect!

First we hiked Council Crest, and though the overcast skies made for a bummer of a view, it was still perfect.

We stayed at a beautiful hotel.  On the table in our room was a basket filled with all the tastiest, tempting junk food.  I glanced at the king sized Snickers bar, and was about to snatch it up and realized that it was $5.  Five freaking dollars for a candy bar?!  Sheesh, so the candy bar stayed put, which was probably better for our checkbook, the baby growing in my belly, and the weight gain that would of resulted.  A can of soda was $3 and a bottle of water $5.  P kept asking me before using anything in the room (TP, Q-tips, Shampoo) if we would be charged for it.  Amazing how much you pay to essentially just sleep in a bed somewhere for the night.

We spent lots of time hiking, went to the comedy club, to a movie, ate every meal out.  You know, the normal things that adults without kiddos do.  It was so strange to not worry about entertaining two busy little boys.  I think I annoyed P with my excessive picture taking.  I just had to soak up the moment to capture memories of just the two of us.  Seems these days my pictures are all of the boys, so it was nice to have a weekend to just focus on us.

And here is a (not so great picture) of the baby bump.  12 weeks along...

and one just because it was neat
