5 years

Today P and I will celebrate our 5th year of marriage.  It has been a crazy last 5 years and now our lives together are finally starting to settle down.  I wonder what life will be like when we actually don't have any homework to do in the evenings.  In the last 5 years together we...
  • Lived the crazy college student life.  Between the two of us we have earned 8 degrees so far - ridiculous I know.  P has 2 bachelor degrees, a masters degree, and is just a few months shy of completing his PhD.  I have 3 associates degrees (who does this, so silly!), and on August 18th I'll have my BSN.
  • Spent WAY too much time commuting in the car to and from school.  P would drive almost 3 hours round trip and I would drive 2 hours round trip with R.  So thankful to be done with that phase of our life!
  • Moved every.single.year!  I didn't mind when it was just P and I, we could do it all on our own with the trusty U-haul and lots of swearing.   Then we added in a couple of kids and moving became this huge, exhausting task.  There was the time we moved in the heat of August when I was ginormously pregnant with R, and the time we moved when K was just 2 weeks old, once again in August...yep our timing with moving is less than ideal.  So thankful to have family that helps!
  • Worked some crazy odd jobs.  Specifically, P and his time spent working at the primate center.  Speaking of which this job left him vegged out on the couch for our first anniversary because of a monkey bite.  The anti virals he had to take left his armpits completely swollen, and so I did what every amazing wife does...left him on the couch solo while I lounged poolside.  So apparently my instinct to nurture and love wasn't in gear at that point in my life, guess I didn't earn the wife of the year award...
  • Spent our 3rd anniversary running a 22 mile trail together.
  • Became parents of two crazy little boys, and have another little surprise on the way!
I am so excited to see what the future holds for us - potentially an out of state move, the purchase of our first home, a new addition to our family, the beginning of a new career for P...  So excited that I get to spend every moment of it with P.  He truly is the greatest!
