changes

January 2007 we did a happy dance.  Right in the middle of my grandparents kitchen floor.  We just came back from a failed Africa trip to nothing.  But that day, the day P got his OSU graduate school acceptance letter, and I got my nursing school acceptance letter...it was golden.  At the time we had absolutely no money, negative actually from our last minute $4,000 credit card charge for one way flights back home.  We returned home with no place to live, no car, and minimal personal items.  Looking back, I am not sure why we were so worried.  It all worked out, P went back to his crazy, monkey job.  And anything else that we didn't have - our brilliant, supportive family and friends provided.

and now two years later, I have my nursing license, my first nursing job, and finally a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree.  P's plan might make it so that his dissertation work is complete at the end of this term, concluding his role as a student forever!   He is also very busy applying for his first position where he will finally make use of those hard earned PhD credentials.

It is so crazy to thing about how much our life is going to change in the next year (or less).  Some of the positions that P is applying for start in January, while others start next fall (September).  If he gets one of the January start positions, we could potentially have just a couple of more months of apartment life, and be just a few months away from buying our first home, and are most likely moving out of state.  In the meantime, we are having fun imagining where his first job will take us, and dream about more space that will come when we are finally able to buy our first home.  Something about this 3rd little one cooking - almost 14 weeks already - makes having a home more of a necessity.  Our type A personalities make this in between phase of waiting to hear back about potential jobs torture.

So maybe we didn't do things the traditional American way - graduate from college, get married, buy a house, wait until we are in our 30's to have kids, etc...We did things in our way.  Our perfect way and our perfect timing, and while it might not work for the majority of people, it worked for us.  Not only did it work, but we ROCKED it!  I am amazed at how much P and I have accomplished together in just 5 years.
