Snowy Saturday

I was refreshing the school cancellation page every 2 minutes at work.  It was 5am, and every district had a snow day BUT R's.  I knew if they hadn't made a decision to close by 5:30am he'd have school, and I was so bummed.  5:28am, I refreshed the page - and he had a SNOW DAY.

I was so thrilled.  I clocked out at 7:10am and head to my car, my lungs went into shock from the extreme temperature drop.  Seriously.

The car had a hard time starting at 7:15am.  It was cold, 6 degrees, with a windchill that made it -10.  So I was a good car owner and let her warm up a bit.  She is trusty, and got me home safe with the icy roads.

I come home from work to find my two sweet boys cozied up together on the sofa.

"Mom, dad never woke me up for school, it is Friday I have school!"

"It is a snow day, you don't have school today."

His smile said it all.

While we didn't have snow to play in- it was icy yuck, it was a fun day together at home.

Lucky for us, we got snow last night.  It was the perfect snowy saturday.

Slept in until 8:30am, well P, J and I.  The boys are always early risers but just hang out together in the mornings.  We had a morning of playdoh, puzzles, pretend food cooking, and coloring.  For lunch I got creative with our limited pantry stock on what to make for lunch - P was less than thrilled with baked potatoes - I'll grocery shop tomorrow, promise.  I snuck in a 5 mile run while the kiddos did quiet time/nap time.  Then we got ready to go out to eat at Olive Garden, but decided not to since the snow was coming down so heavy.  Instead we had an impromptu neighborhood snowball fight.  Came inside to warm up with hot chocolate, marshmallows, and bubble baths.  Complete with a lazy snuggly evening.
