Personal secretary

I asked for Feb 12-15th off from work in October.  I know this because I have the form that my manager signed approving my time off.

I bring this up to validate my point that I am going to make…

My Mr., oh how I love him immensely.  But his fly by the seat of his pants attitude about some things just drives me batty.

Seriously.

He has known about a conference he is presenting some of his brilliant research at since October 2013.  So why, less than 24 hours before he planned to leave, did I have to ask him, "how are you getting to South Carolina, and where are you staying?"

Imagine my surprise, when he 1) hadn't arranged for a hotel, 2) didn't have his one and only suit cleaned for the occasion, and 3) informed me that he is just going drive there

Yes, I might be superwoman and able to fix lots of things…but getting a suit dry cleaned AND finding a hotel (in a city that would be booked because of this conference he is going to) at the last possible minute…even superwoman can't deal with that.

I asked him what he was going to do about all this…he said, hire a personal secretary to take care of these boring details.  Since a budget for a personal secretary isn't in the cards, apparently by default I am his go to girl.  Not wanting the love of my life to sleep in his car (like he most likely would, because that is how he rolls sometimes - seriously), I had to intervene in the last minute problem he created.

First to address his plans on driving there - driving.  He told me "it is only a 6-7hr car drive."  I laughed.  While it MIGHT look like 6-7hours on the phone app that he was trusting to get him from point A to point B, he neglected to address other, more important, phone apps in his lack-of-planning-process.  The phone apps that predict weather and road conditions between point A and point B.  Given the pending snow/sleet/freezing rain that was set to hit the areas he needed to drive through, I was left to gather advice from my travel agent friends at 11:30pm.

After the scramble to find a flight, it looks like all flights are now cancelled during the time he needs to be there - the area he is headed is apparently in a "state of emergency" related to the snow/ice/cold weather.

And there is the details of my lack of sleep last night.  All I can say is my Mr. better be bringing home flowers, chocolate, or dinner tonight…cause this wife/mama is exhausted.  5 hours of sleep while pregnant just doesn't cut it anymore...
