Golf clubs

I decided to surprise my Mr. at work.  The preschoolers and I made a special trip in, just for him.  Despite the 45 minute car drive (which to a 2 and 4 year old feels like eternity) we really should make a point to sneak in on him more often than once a year.  The way his eyes joined in on his smile when he spotted us, magic.  I adore him.  Seriously.

On a side note, but not something I've documented yet, last month Paul went to a faculty only awards luncheon.  He was awarded the "pursuit of excellence award for 2013" which is voted on by faculty, other higher up power suit wearing people, and then the most high - BU's president.  Only one faculty gets this award for the entire year...and it was my Mr.  He has this thing stashed nonchalantly in his office, hiding out in the corner, like no big deal.  That is how he rolls, always, and one of the many reasons why he is just so amazing at life.

The kids were the highlight of everyones day.  Being a college campus, visitors under the age of 18 are rare, especially the preschool type.  So they were filled up with sweets and the talk of the campus.  They ran off some energy in the lab.  J tired the cycle ergometer, but given her 32 inch, 22lb stature...well it was a no go.

She was fascinated by this skeleton, who P jokingly referred to as R, because we always call our favorite first grader bones.
And as a southern gentleman would do, my Mr. walked us out to the van and helped buckle the preschoolers in.  Little did he know...
I had a surprise waiting for him.  He has been hinting that a set of craigslist/goodwill/cheapest clubs I could find would be the perfect b-day/Christmas gift combined.  Since my Mr. never asks for anything, seriously never does, it was so exciting to do this for him.  He is so hard working, and so deserving, and his face when he looked at them...a cherished moment forever.  He quickly grabbed the putter and a few balls, as he returned to work.

I went for a run tonight after tucking the kids in bed, and found this in the backyard at 7:58pm.  The joys of country life, and a spacious backyard.  I jumped on the trampoline for a bit, while he mastered the art of amateur golf swinging.  To me it looked like a lot of funny pelvic thrusting, and flying golf balls.  And so his journey of golfing begins...If we weren't already labeled as the crazy neighbors of this hood...we sure are now.

He informed me that the pros are in our state's major city this year.  The he swung and missed.  I giggled.  I said he'd probably need some appropriate golf attire if he planned on becoming pro in the next few months.  He said an old pair of running shoes will do just fine.  I giggled again.

Then he said some cheesy quote, from some famous movie that I can't remember right now -
Sex and golf are two things you can suck at, and still have fun.

So I took that as my cue to go inside because...well, despite having some property, we do still live in a neighborhood!
