Beauty in the spring

A change in seasons occurred today.  While the weather change is much welcomed, the other season change is bittersweet.

Today a big truck came and delivered a "big girl bed" for Jovie.  A rite of passage.  One that signifies babyhood is over, and big-girl-ness is beginning.  Yes, she turned 3 in February, and yes the transition is probably much over due.  But for now, she is my baby, and there is something so tough about the crib takedown process.  I might have been a bit emotional about the ordeal.  Be assured that, while she is 3, being in a crib worked out just fine for our petite gal.  She weighed in at a whopping 24lbs at her 3 year check up on 4/9/14, so she still has no trouble fitting comfortably, and getting great sleep in a crib.  According to her pediatrician, she is below the 1st percentile for weight, and in the 5th percentile for height with an estimated adult height of 5 foot even.  But she is old enough to make the transition, and I would rather pay for a bed for her now, than to buy a second crib for Hartley.  To avoid making Jovie feel like she was losing her crib to Hartley, I decided to make the change now.  I made a big deal about her being able to pick out special bedding for her new bed.  We went to Target and girlfriend spent a good 30 minutes, much to Kip's dismay, really putting thought into which sheets would be just perfect.  After melting down because she wanted princess sheets (Cinderella) but was told no, we got a full size bed and the sheets were only twin, she settled on some that had ladybugs.  Her room is in the midst of a make over soon, a painter is coming Monday.  Once we settle on a wall color, her and I will go out and pick out more goodies to make her room adorable.  Oh.my.little.girl, so tiny in that full size bed.

And the other season change is the glory of spring.  After a rather long, cold winter this transition is much appreciated.  A season of open windows, lower electric bills, days spent outdoors…yes we are all so excited.  There is something about springtime in KY.  The colors, yes, they are magical.  It must be noted that these pictures were not edited and come straight out of the camera.
Their giggles were the best sound ever.

and a baby bump, to include H in on the pictures, since it is "sibling day" today.
